How is the BIA assessment determined?
Riverside District BIA is administered by a volunteer Board of Management, comprised of property and business owners within our area, which is elected by fellow members and approved by City Council. Every year, the Board develops a budget based on a range of proposed activities and projects. Once the budget is approved by all the BIA members present at our Annual General Meeting, the City charges each member a proportion of the total budget, based on that member’s share of the district’s total commercial realty assessment. In this way, the BIA is designed, created and governed by those who will pay the assessment.
